A major highlight of this year’s January in Tucson included the addition of a speaker series funded by University of Arizona's Commission on the Status of Women. The Indigenous Governance Program was excited to host three remarkable women for Native Women in Governance Speaker Series: Perspectives on Leadership: Shannon Keller O’Loughlin, J.D, (Choctaw Nation) Executive Director, Association on American Indian Affairs, Diane Enos (Salt River Pima-Maricopa), Councilwoman, and former President, Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community, and Hermina “Minnie” Frias (Pascua Yaqui Tribe), Councilwoman and former Chairwoman. Each of the guest speakers offered invaluable perspectives along with candid conversations about their leadership experiences with an audience of JIT participants, UA students and staff, and community members.
